From the early stages of his Cabinetmaking Apprenticeship Matt knew he had found the profession of a lifetime. His enthusiasm and enjoyment of hands on construction reflected through various achievement awards and was a finalist in the 'Apprentice of the year', by his registered training organisation. The local Rotary Club awarded him the 'Pride of workmanship' award, which is now proudly hung in the office today. With his training complete and his hands-on ability to transform many projects over the years, it seemed inevitable that his passion for his work would one day go further than the confines of his employer at the time.
As the years passed, Matt observed that there were significant ways to improve on current business practices and workmanship. So in a leap of faith, in 2009, he decided to add a fresh face to the industry with the establishment of 'Cut Above Cabinetmakers P/L'. The business name was deliberately chosen to reflect, in a glance, his overall offering to consumers. Offering quality products, pride in workmanship and top notch customer service. These supported by a foundation of integrity, reliability, honesty and courtesy. If you ask him today nothing has changed in his stance to these core principles because being 'a cut above' in his field holds great responsibility but also brings great satisfaction.
'We enjoy the work we do and are passionate in our field of expertise. We let our enthusiasm flow out into our work with high quality workmanship and attention to detail'.
With no prior advertising in place and the GFC in full swing Matt put his head down, focused on the important issues and the business took shape. He tackled all forms of cabinet work, but of it all, the most emerging need was in the household Kitchen space. This need grew along with an understanding that the Kitchen space was evolving. What was once seen to be primarily a preparation space, time and trends had changed. Kitchens started to hold much more significance within a household, a room with real emotion and functionality. The layout, design and use of different textures and finishes becoming of high importance turning the zone into a place to not only prepare but to meet and entertain. 14 years down the track and the business continues to make a mark in an ever changing Kitchen renovation market and boasts of a highly satisfied customer base with a well respected name within the local area and abroad.
'Our youthfulness and motivation drives us to stay in touch with the latest trends and products to present to our clients, innovative ideas for storage, function and design'.
The start of 2014 saw the introduction of the trading name, 'Cut Above Kitchens & Cabinets' added to the companies portfolio. The business took on the slight name alteration with great zeal and with the comfort of knowing that it well reflects the work it undertakes and will help guide consumers well into the future. Matt as working Director continues to personally oversee each job be transformed into something new, creative and unique and treats every job like that of his own with amazing attention to detail. Not only him, but the whole team at 'Cut Above Kitchens & Cabinets' believes that the Kitchen is the heart of the home and can be an avenue in which to help express who you are and what you are about.
